Reasons for religious Accommodations

There are any number of reasons why people may find the use, or certain uses, of generative AI to be in conflict with their religious beliefs.

Some topics that seem immediately relevant. Reservations about AI could be related to religious beliefs about:

  • The dignity of work

  • The dignity of human beings

  • The belief that human beings are distinct among creatures

  • Violations of intellectual property law

Some people also believe that AI is evil. Paul Kingsnorth makes that argument in his book Against the Machine: On the Unmaking of Humanity (Thesis, 2025).
